Lockhart's background includes study at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Corcoran School of Art.  Earlier work in biology at Salisbury University also influenced her.

Among Lynne's credits are one person exhibits at the Main Street Gallery in Annapolis, Salisbury University, and the Troika Gallery in Easton, MD.  Her paintings have been exhibited in the Governor's Mansion in Annapolis, the Wustun Museum in Wisconsin, the Ward Museum in Maryland, Arts for the Parks in Wyoming and the Kentucky Derby Museum.  She has also illustrated three children's books and won the SOMIRAC Children's Choice Book Award.  Her works are included in many private, corporate and public collections.
