My work is not limited to any specific subject matter or theme- if I see something that I find appealing with some sort of aesthetic spark, I paint it. I am not one to delve in to theories of art, which in turn allows me to get lost within my paintings, letting the unknown happen without personal reservations. I am interested in the smaller, more subtle details of “accidental” brush-strokes that result in something entirely new. I feel that landscape painting opens up a conversation and allows me to take certain risks without second guesses or hang-ups. I can go on a tangent with a tree branch or wave in the water and not feel guilty about it. I believe great works emerge from losing control and knowing that there are no rules in painting, nor will there ever be.
