Phil was also invited to participate in the John Peto Museum International Juried Art Exhibition. The Nature Center of Cape May featured Phil as their artist in residence for their annual fundraiser in 2019, “Catch of Cape May”. SOMA NewArt Gallery, Cape May will feature Phil in an upcoming show June 6th to July 5, 2020.
Phil paints a variety of subjects, indoors and out, using oils and watercolors, depending on the subject and location. He is proficient in both mediums and has developed techniques for capturing the unique atmospheric conditions of the seashore, and the play of sunlight and shadows cast by the intricate details of Cape May Victorian architecture. Phil constantly tries new techniques and methods as shown by his newest collection of flower paintings. Color transparencies, rich hues of gradient color and textural subtleties of flowers in all their elegance have been explored and captured by Phil in this new endeavor and subject.
