Penny Beck Artist Statement
"In this group of paintings I have combined my love for nature and animals with my fascination with color and design. The first piece of art I can remember producing was a large cut out of a pig on construction paper. It was done as part of a class mural of farming or something like that, I was very proud of my drawing and it filled me with confidence for creativity. Later on I found a sort of kinship with the artist Van Gogh and the group of artists that called themselves: les Fauves (French for "the wild beasts") Matisse, Kandinsky, Derain, etc.– Such color! Such confidence!! That is what I want to achieve."
