Artists Opening Reception - Saturday, May 31, 6PM - 9PM Exhibit: May 31 to June 29, 2014
Beatrice Coron is a visual storyteller; her work explores memories of individuals and communities, political ideologies and mythical legends all interpreted by her artistic imagination.
Beatrice Coron’s work starts with an idea conceived around a theme, then a series of conceptual sketches to capture the general architectural layout and visual elements, that when completed will be cut into four layers of Tyvek. After the initial cutting, each layer is separated, ‘cleaned up’ and then individually finished by adding different details to each piece.
Beatrice Coron is a world re-known artist; her work includes illustration, book arts, fine art and public art. She cuts her characteristic silhouette designs in paper and Tyvek. She also creates work in stone, glass, metal, rubber, stained glass and digital media. Her work has been purchased by major museum collections throughout the world including, the Metropolitan Museum, MoMA and The Getty. Her public art can be seen in subways, airport and sports facilities among others.
