Harriett Sosson’s collages are interesting in two ways - on two levels. On the one hand the subjects are often surreal and witty juxtapositions of unlikely objects or people in unexpected surroundings. On the other hand, the collages are satisfying as paintings for their modulated color, well composed layout, sophisticated patterns and interesting textures. It is rare to find lighthearted subjects and serious painterly concerns joined together in one work; a combination which makes these collages doubly effective.
