I find that I have no problem being alone for long stretches of time. As a child I would spend long delightful hours in the forest behind my house using my imagination and hunting for treasure. Last year provided ample time to focus for extended periods in my studio. The year brought loss and challenges, introspection and growth; and time to contemplate and explore materials and methods that resulted in the work you see in this show. I seek to make work that will interest and endure, and speak to the spirit and strength that can be found in solitude.
Architectural sculpture has long been a fascination for me. The beauty such work bestows on old buildings, in places sometimes least thought of, gives unique and complex character seldom seen in today’s world of large box structures of metal and glass. It is with these sculptures that I hope to add such interest to your home or workplace as well.
